Our History. Your Future.

As the associate director of the WEMPEC consortium at the University of Wisconsin, Professor Deepak Divan’s focus was the study of power electronics. But as new research led to new discoveries—and real-world applications—he established SoftSwitching Technologies.

Professor Divan’s new company began introducing advanced, customized solutions to the challenges faced by power electronics and motor drive companies. From these innovations, a refined power control platform emerged—just as a study from EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute) revealed that 96% of all power problems were short-duration voltage sags, not outages as previously believed.

Professor Divan realized that SoftSwitching Technologies could use its patented technology to create a solution. That solution—the Dynamic Sag Corrector (DySC)—rolled out of SoftSwitching Technologies and into manufacturing facilities in 1999.

Today, we offer the most affordable, effective and scalable power quality and monitoring solutions available on the market. A full array of scalable, battery-free DySC products. I-Sense intelligent sensors that pinpoint time and duration of voltage sags. And Grid Alert™ event notifications—the only global power reporting and notification network in the world.

Based in Middleton, Wisconsin (adjacent to Madison), SoftSwitching Technologies serves major manufacturing customers and utility companies all over the world. Key customers include both middle market firms and blue chip companies such as General Motors, Chrysler, Ford, BMW, Honda, Applied Materials, Texas Instruments, Motorola, Hynix, Kraft, General Mills, Campbell’s, ConAgra and Anheuser-Busch.
