BRUMSICKLE, VICE PRESIDENT OF ENGINEERINGDr. Brumsickle joined SoftSwitching Technologies in 1998, where he now leads all research, development and product planning initiatives. Dr. Brumsickle brings an extensive background in power-related research and considerable technical knowledge to his role. After serving as industrial applications engineer for static power conversion products at Enerpro, Inc., he participated in research projects for soft switching converters, active power filters, power electronics building blocks (PEBB), large-scale UPS, and traction-drive applications of high-voltage transistors under the Wisconsin Electronic Machines and Power Electronics Consortium (WEMPEC) at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. A Senior Member of the IEEE, Dr. Brumsickle has 15 published papers and serves as chairman of the Voltage Sags Analysis chapter of IEEE Std 493-2007, Design of Reliable Industrial and Commercial Power Systems. His professional interests include power electronics conversion for utility and industrial applications, soft switching inverter design and control, and the physics, monitoring and mitigation of power quality disturbances. Dr. Brumsickle received his B.S. in physics from the University of Washington, Seattle, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering (power and energy systems) from the University of Wisconsin—Madison. JASON DOESCHER, CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER & GENERAL MANAGERMr. Doescher joined SoftSwitching Technologies in September 2000 and currently serves as Chief Financial Officer and General Manager. Previously, Mr. Doescher was Corporate Controller for Advanced Separation & Process Systems, a leading provider of modular and field-erected process systems, where he assisted in preparation of due diligence analysis, purchase contract preparation and financing for acquisitions. SOFTSWITCHING TECHNOLOGIES PROFILESoftSwitching Technologies® is a global leader in power quality solutions for all automated industrial markets. The company develops products, systems and services that effectively detect, correct and restore power at any automated manufacturing operation, and protect sensitive processes, equipment and facilities from the negative effects of Dirty Power. Dirty Power can cause dips in voltage quality (otherwise known as "voltage sags"), which have been shown to cost the United States economy over $150 billion per year in unscheduled equipment downtime.
Real-Life Examples of the Impact of Voltage Sags
PROFILE BATTERY-FREE UNINTERRUPTABLE POWER SUPPLY (UPS) PRODUCTS SoftSwitching Technologies' Dynamic Sag Corrector (DySC®) battery-free UPS technology provides an unbroken flow of clean energy at manufacturing facilities, keeping operations running smoothly with little maintenance. The DySC technology operates without batteries and contains no moving parts to sustain or replace. DySC utilizes patented double conversion inverter technology that protects against the voltage sags and momentary power outages that account for 30% of all manufacturing downtime. SoftSwitching Technologies operates the world's largest privately owned power quality tracking network, the I-Grid® intelligent network. With thousands of I-Sense® voltage sag detectors strategically located across the country and networked to the I-Grid, SoftSwitching Technologies helps manufacturers collect, analyze and correlate power quality data, delivering the information real-time through Internet-based technology.
